Just in time for Christmas! When you are asked for hints on what you would like for Christmas, remember these essentials for your upcoming trip to the tropical paradise (minus the running water and electricity) of Limon de la Cerca in 2010. First of all, your friends and loved ones will get a lot of joy in helping sponsor you on your trip and helping to pay for the construction of these houses. Just ask!
You will also benefit from: cool t-shirts, cargo shorts, thick athletic socks, work boots, a back pack, duffle bags, flashlight, things like 100% DEET bug repellant and travel size soap, shampoo, etc. Keep in mind that we usually get filled with the spirit and leave much of these things behind for our Honduran friends when we leave.
You also will need your passport (check the expiration date!) and up-to-date shots, although it is hard to ask for those for Christmas! You can find info on passports here:
http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/first/first_830.html
and on your required immunizations by calling the Wake County Health Department (next to Wake Med on New Bert Ave.) at
Public Health Center (Clinic E)
10 Sunnybrook Road, Raleigh
Call 919-250-3900 to make an appointment.
Monday through Friday by appointment only from 8:30-11:30 a.m.and 1-4 p.m. For recorded travel information call the Travel Information Line: 919-250-3885.
You can find out more info - in fact more than you need to know - on the NC Baptist Men's website at
Your other essentials, an open heart, a willing spirit, and flexible attitude will be provided to you through other sources.
Speaking of t-shirts, if you are one of the few who have not turned in your $500 deposit, please do so today. Wait, that doesn't have anything to do with t-shirts. What I meant to say is please hit the respond button now and give me your t-shirt size. A surprise awaits.
Keep the Faith!
